Webinar Hosting - What to Consider Before You Sign Up

Webinar hosting is one of the most important things that need to be considered after you have created your webinar and are looking to present it on the web. There are a number of hosts out there and they all have slightly different services and in many cases different prices. This is why it is important to know not only what you want but to shop price to find the deal that is going to work best for your company.

The first thing to consider is what type of features you want. Do you want to be able to interact via voice chat of voice over IP technology while presenting your webinar? If so, do you want a hosting service that provides this type of interaction as part of the fee or do you want to consider a secondary source for this service?

The second thing to consider is the pricing packages. There are a number of different packages available and they each have their own advantages and disadvantages. You have to determine which one is going to work the best for you and then determine the hosting services that are going to provide you with the best deal under the pricing package.

Pricing packages are set up in three basic styles. These are flat rate, per seat and per minute per seat. Flat rate means that you pay a certain price per month. This includes up to criteria such as so many seats and so much bandwidth. There are usually several different levels of packages in this pricing criterion so you can usually find a plan that is going to not only meet your needs but also be able to grow with your business.

Per seat, rates are going to charge you so much per seat. This includes the bandwidth usually and in many cases does not limit the number of sessions you can have. This works out well for individuals who may have a small number of individuals per sessions but need to have frequent sessions such as with ongoing or continuing training.

Finally, in regards to the more frequent pay packages there is the per minute per seat. This charges a fee of a certain amount per minute per person viewing or using the services. This type of pay scale works well in instances where you may be training an entire team from the manager down.

In this example, the managers would need to view the entire presentation however, the administrative assistants may only need to view the first 15 minutes or first 20 minutes of the presentation. At a per minute per seat rate the individuals can be requested to log off at an appropriate time and that person would no longer show up as part of the billing. While this is a more complicated process, it works out well in these types of situations and can provide a more reasonable rate free schedule for individuals in this situation or even for individuals who may not be presenting frequently or for extended periods of time.

Webinar hosting comes in all shapes and sizes with different features and pay rates. It is a good idea to not only research what you need by what companies have to offer before deciding on a hosting service for your company.
